My media product represents a variety of different social groups however it focuses on one kind of music in particular and that being people within the late teenage age range to early twenty's, this is done using a number of different techniques.
In order to create a media product that represented the social group I chose to base my work on I created a survey and a questionnaire in the preproduction stage of my work. I was able to virtually upload a questionnaire onto a popular social networking site for example by using social networking websites such as Myspace or Facebook it enabled me to survey a small selection of friends (around three or four people). By analyzing this I was able to see what they preferred having in the music magazines content. I thought this was an insightful thing to do and also very important as by surveying people online was an easier and quicker way to get a more detailed and direct response of what the target audience preferred, from what the people I had chosen to answer my questionnaire had responded. This it gave me more accurate findings as everyone questioned did not have a selection of different options to pick from, enabling them to give an individual response to the series of questions provided. Whereas in the previous questionnaire they only had to tick their preferred choice which I then had to tally up and from the results I created pie charts and bar charts to consolidate the outcomes and further decide from the highest scoring selection of the findings I would use. All of the above helped me to find out and decide who would be the audience of my media product.
The costume the male model was wearing is the average style of dressing that RnB listeners wear. The male audience would usually wear a pair of jeans with a hoody matching the colour of the hoody to the colour of the top or hood they had chosen. This style has created a bit of controversy due to the stereotype that young men that wear hoodies are involved in gangs (this has created a sense of danger to the way the RnB and rap genres have been seen by the public). This is why young people can not enter shops or clubs if they have their hood is up as they are threatened by members of the public that dislike rap and rnb culture.

The colours all three models are wearing quite dark colours (black top and& navy cardigan or grey hoody). The hair styles of the guys were average probably was done by a barber that they always go to. In the photograph on the front page my model which I named “Rico” he is smirking this gives the image that he is a relatable authoritative person creating a persona that the audience can relate to.
By the facial expressions of the models I used I managed to portray them with a more aggressive side showing that RnB is not exactly as it uses artists posing in this manner to create a sense of the artist being dominant and having control especially if the photograph was taken at a low angle. Also by incorporating aspects of the Indie genre that emphazises a lot the way the artists behave, as they are always shown in an aggressive manner (usually looking away from the camera this makes the seem like they do not care at all that the photograph is being taken).
A problem that I faced was when I relied on my friends to turn up so that I could take the photographs needed for the music magazine I was working on, they failed to turn up at the allocated time we had arranged to meet forcing me to organise the photoshoot with other people. This was why I did not have the models I originally wanted to use. I believed that the use of props was unnecessary, as the main model I used was a teenage boy which I decided to use that to my advantage as the target audience I was aiming at were teenage girls. His image appeal a more female based audience the female as by viewing the front cover and seeing a male celebrity the female members of the audience would be more likely to purchase this magazine. Whereas if I used the two female friends I previously wanted to model, may have discouraged the audience as they are two teenage girls that may portray a more outgoing appeal due to the way they behave, that may be the thing the would scare off some of the audience.

The models I had chosen to use were not wearing any jewellery but I felt from the way Rico (the name I had given to the teenage boy) was posing and the non verbal communication given through his facial expression and clothing showed enough attitude that was why I decided that he needed to be the person on the front cover. None of the four models photographed wore jewellery or needed props as I believe that the non verbal communication expressed was all that was needed to appeal the target audience of teenage RnB listeners. Also their clothing was their way of communicating their own personality. an example of this would be the female model wearing a skelenton top this type of clothing is usually worn by the Indie and Rock and Roll fan base.
