Profiling my audience

In my profiling I have analyzed a music magazines website looking at how efficient their advertising is. I decided to find out how successful RWD magazine was, as this is the type of magazine genre I aim to use for my final project. I aim to create a magazine front cover and contents page that my target audience would be appealed to reading. I will focus on the way it is laid out and how to combine the colour scheme with both the images and text.

By analyzing this website I have gained an insight into the type of things the audience is interested in reading and looking at the figures that are presented here indicates that the RWD magazine's website is very successful. This shows that they do not just have to sell the magazines to gain fans and profit.

To have an idea of their success you would have to look at the amount of monthly fashion brands that have been delivered both to consumers and fashion retailers (1000 copies). Also on their advertising page it shows that they have been selling to JD stores worldwide. When analyzing these findings I have realized that judging by the amount of page views (7 million views of various pages a month) and deliveries they are gaining a lot of publicity within 15-35 year olds.

When I create my own music magazine front cover and contents page my target audience would be between 15-23 year olds, I believe that creating a magazine for this age group would be easier as I am a teenager myself and will have similar interests to the age group I have chosen. By my personal experience by talking to older relatives and friends I have some knowledge of the type of music young adults of that age range listen to and like, finding out that they have the similar musical preferences to me.

I am aiming that the majority of my audience would be female; this is something that could not be found out on the RWD website only the age range of their audience (15-24 year olds). The age range of people on the websites fan base are between the age range of 25-35, the fact that 25+ year olds had subscribed to the fan base indicates that they may have more of an interest in the content of the magazine. Whereas the younger audience of 15-24 year olds may not be as interested in the content as the artist featured on the front cover (for example Tinie Tempah or an upcoming artist).
