Audience Research Evaluation

Question 1: what was their gender?
I asked this question to find out the how many males and females there were. This showed me that I had asked only a minority of male students to do my questionare. Out of 20 people the majority were female (16 people).
Question 2: How old are you?

I did not ask a specific people to do my questionare (due to me knowing their age). I asked random people to do my questionnaire as I wanted the results to be fair making them non biased results determined only by their choices. I wanted to see if there was a correlation between the age group and what they had choosen.

Question 3: Would you like there to be a college magazine?

When I had asked this question my aim was to see how many people in the college were interested in there being a college magazine. My intial idea was that depending on the persons gender it determined wheather they picked yes or no. Whereas in the results there was no way to compare as both genders had various view on wheather there should be one or not.

Question 4: If yes how much were they willing to pay for a college magazine?

By analysising my findings it protrays that nearly all of the people question were willing to pay the minimum amount possible. Some people did not want to pay anything at all of the college magazine (2 people) shown in the catagorie (other). I was not suprised when people did not choose the £1.70-£2 column as a college magazine is not a retail item (published worldwide).

Question 5: What topics would you like there to be in the college magazine?

I asked them to tick one or more boxes as I knew that there were more than one possible answer. I found out that the majority of the people questioned prefered/voted for the topic Entertainment (9 people out of 20). I now know to put some form of entertainemt into my final piece of work. Whereas 8 people out of 20 people could not decide between a combination of entertainment and teenage issues or all three.

Question 6: If you ticked Educational: what would you prefer?

Many people ticked none of the boxes as they had ticked one of the other topics written on the previous question. I thought by separating each topic into each subtopic it would have been easier for the people I had asked and I believe that it was due to only one person making a mistake. The fact that the majority of people picked none (13 people) shows that they had picked one of the other two topics (on question 5).

Question 7 : If you ticked Teenage issues: what would you prefer?

If the people question did not tick any of the subtopics above it means that they had ticked another topic from the previous question (question 5, either Entertainment or Educational). The results indicate that half of the people choose none (10 out of 20 people), 6 people choose social life issues and 2 people had choosen both subtopics. Also 2 people choose relationship advice giving me the idea that they might want some help on any type of relationship issue.

Question 8: If you ticked Entertainment: what would you like?

In my results I have realised that 9 people could not decide between either music and fashion or music and film or all three subtopics. By letting the people questioned decide how many subtopics they wanted to tick it this made it easier for them to decide but harder for me to organise and calculate my findings. the most popular subtopics were fashion and a combination of all three totaling 6 people each (the highest amount shown on this graph).

Question 9: For the front page which of the following colours/colour would you prefer there to be on it?

In order to make my results accurate I allowed them to decide a combination of different colour choices
not knowing that some people would choose nearly all of them. The results are mainly quiet low as alot of people had choosen the more bright colours as to the more darker (dull colours). 5 out of 10 people choose the colour purple by itself, this will make the front page more eyecatching (appealing). I was surprised that nobody had choosen black or white on its own (only one person chose a combination of them both). the second most popular colour was blue.

Question 10: For the front page: what would you prefer?

I gave them a choice between 3 topics, 11 people chose a mixture of both text and pictures as either they couldnt decide which one to pick or they thought that was the best way to layout my front cover. It was important for me to find out which ones they preferred so that I could then make a front cover page that was to their satisfacation.

Question 11: How often would you like the college magazine to be published?

I asked this question to find out their opinions and feelings about when the college magazine should be published, for example by allocating specific time periods I  insured that they knew the frenquency of the publishing. Also I now know that half of them (people questioned) wanted a monthly magazine, showing that their interested in what is going on within the college grounds.

Question 12: What images would you lilke?
I asked this question to find out what kind of image they had a preferrance to having on the college magazine, 12 people out of a total of 20 asked would like to see pictures of Christ the kings students in/on it. It was surprising that more people did not choose celebrities (as I previously believed they would have done). I know to use pictures of students and maybe a few celebrities to appeal to my target audience (attracting their attention).
